It was great to see such a big crowd at last Thursday’s meeting of the Birmingham Big Orange Club and the Birmingham Chapter of the UT Alumni Association meeting. Over 130 Big Orange clad Volunteers came to hear Quarterback great, Tee Martin share stories of his life and give us an insider’s view of his experience leading the Vols through the 1998 National Championship season. He gave us facts, made us laugh, answered all our questions and gave everyone their money’s worth.
If you were not able to make it, we expect to see you at next months meeting, Thursday October 12th when our speaker will be Alex Walls, former VOL’s place kicker and current place kicker for the Birmingham Steel Dogs arena football team. We will send out a RSVP notice for this meeting in a couple weeks.

Alex Walls, former TN place kicker and current place kicker for the Birmingham Steel Dogs arena football team, will speak at the October 12th meeting. We will finish the 2006 football season with our November meeting on the 9th with Richmond Flowers, one of the greatest college and UT athletes of all time. Darrell Mayes, BBOC Vice Pres., is currently working on scheduling the legendary Haywood Harris and Gus Manning for our first meeting of 2007 in February.
The Vols have a new attitude as so does our web site. I’m going through and adding new features such as UT Sports news stories and a calender of events.
Other new features include an RSS feed so you can add our site to your favoite feed reader – mine is Google’s Personalized Home Page.
There is still more content to add and things to be “tweaked” so keep checking back.
